Sodium hypochlorite acts as a potent oxidizing agent, offering the benefits of affordability and effective sterilization, which is why it is frequently utilized in the catalytic oxidation of ammonia-laden wastewater. Furthermore, nitrogen oxides present in the atmosphere are harmful to both humans and plants. These nitrogen oxides can combine with hydrocarbons to create photochemical smog, deteriorating air quality and potentially harming the ozone layer. Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology is a well-established approach for eliminating nitrogen oxides from the atmosphere. Sodium exhibits high catalytic activity for the gasification reactions of CO2, H2O, and O2 when combined with semi-coke.
